Four Paws at a Time
Did you know?
Each Canine Companions assistance dog is specially matched with a person with a disability. The connection and bond that the team has is incredible! These dogs not only open doors, pick up dropped items and turn on light switches, they provide greater independence and an amazing life-time partnership.
A Testimony for you...
LuLu is a smart, vivacious 7-year-old girl who needs to stay active and exercise to help manage the progression of two rare genetic conditions. Because LuLu uses leg braces, it can be more difficult for her to engage in the activities she loves like art, swimming and dance. Now with one of our dogs, Zuke, by her side, LuLu can enjoy her hobbies and experience a fuller, more independent life.
As part of his professional training, Zuke knows over 40 commands. When LuLu says, “Zuke, cover!” Zuke will lay on her, to provide calming pressure to soothe her frayed emotions.
Zuke was provided to LuLu and her parents free of charge thanks to generous donors like you.
Who we are...
We are two students at Pacifc Union College in Angwin, CA. We are currently taking a fundraising for non profits class. For a class assignment, we were tasked with managing a live crowd funding effort to raise money on behalf of a organization that is close to our hearts. We chose Canine Companions for Independence because people with disabilities need the support and affection that a professional service dog can provide.
Help us make more matches! We are fundraising because we believe in Canine Companions for Independence and their mission to provide highly-trained assistance dogs to adults, children and veterans with disabilities is FREE of charge.
Please help us reach our fundraising goal of $1,500 by making a tax-deductible contribution. Your gift will help open more doors for people with disabilities. Every dollar counts!
Together, we can change lives four paws at a time.
