The Objective: Raise $80,000 to cover the cost of two fully-trained companion dogs for two of our veterans.
Why? Simply put, a CCI assistance dogs help veterans to live fuller lives. To quote Sam, a wounded veteran who was paired with a CCI dog, "The Veterans Administration gives me what I need to survive. CCI gave me what I needed to live."
CCI's Veterans Initiative partners veterans with highly-trained assistance dogs (a.k.a. Battle Buddies). These dogs are specifically trained to address the routine challenges some of our wounded veterans face after returning home, including opening doors, turning light switches on/off, etc., as well as letting them know that they are entering a safe haven, thus enabling our vets to live fuller lives with greater independence.
Please help us reach our fundraising goal by making a tax-deductible contribution. We have made this a goal in memory of Matthew Megale, a young man that knew how much an assistance dog contributed to his sister Shea's life, and still does.
